IL Verzbicas Out
Freshman sensation Lukas Verzbicas' season ends with a pinched sciatic nerve.
New Lenox IL
Lukas Verzbicas, the highly touted Freshman fron Lincoln Way Central has had his season end early due to a pinched sciatic nerve. According to Coach John Taylor, he saw his doctor on Monday and was told not to run for three weeks. He had hurt his back jumping over a downed tree log and this may have caused him to pinch his sciatic nerve, leading to pain in his knee.
There are plans for him to get a second opinion, but currently it appears that his season is done. Lincoln Way Central has obviously taken a hit team wise, but still have the potential to qualify as a team.
Verzbicas had won three major invitationals this season including Lyons, Peoria Woodruff, and Argo. At Argo, he broke the 32 year old course record.
Next season Verzbicas will be competing at Lincoln Way West, which will open in the fall of 2009. Lincoln Way West will compete at the Class AA level in 2009.
No word on if he will be able to compete in post season meets. |
